Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SwiftDrive (“SwiftDrive”, “we”, “us” or “our”) may collect, use, store and share information when you use the SwiftDrive ride-booking service, including its rider and driver features.
SwiftDrive is intended for use in South Africa. We aim to handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), where applicable.
1. Information we may collect
- Account details: information you provide to register or sign in, such as your name, email address, phone number and account role.
- Location and trip details: pickup and destination addresses, trip routes, timestamps and location information needed to request, match, navigate or complete a ride. If location permission is enabled, the app may use your device location for these features.
- Driver and vehicle details: vehicle information and documents or verification information submitted by drivers, where driver onboarding requires them.
- Payment and trip records: fare amounts, payment method and payment status, transaction references, trip history and relevant commission or payout records. Payments handled by a third-party payment provider are also subject to that provider’s privacy terms.
- Rider early-access details: if you join the pre-launch interest list, we collect your cellphone number, selected service area, expected travel frequency and the time you gave consent. We use these details to understand local rider demand and contact you about SwiftDrive launch and availability updates. Joining the list does not create an account or request a trip.
- Support and technical information: messages you send us and basic app, device, diagnostic or security information needed to operate, maintain and protect the service.
2. How we use information
We may use information to create and secure accounts; match riders with drivers; display pickup, destination and route information; provide trip updates and navigation; calculate fares; process or reconcile payments; support driver onboarding; respond to support requests; prevent fraud and misuse; improve reliability; and meet legal obligations. Rider early-access details are also used to estimate demand by service area and send the launch or availability updates you agreed to receive. Joining the list does not create an account or request a ride.
3. When information is shared
- Between riders and drivers: details needed to arrange and complete a trip, such as pickup and destination information and relevant trip status. A driver may need a rider’s pickup details, and a rider may see relevant driver and vehicle details.
- Service providers: providers that support hosting, maps, location search, payment processing, communications, security or technical operations, where those services are used.
- Legal and safety reasons: where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect users, investigate fraud or protect SwiftDrive’s rights and safety.
We do not sell personal information as a business model. We do not share information with third parties for their own purposes except as described in this policy or where you direct us or the law permits or requires it.
4. Location permissions
Location is used to help set or confirm pickup points, support trip matching and provide navigation or trip progress. You can manage location permission in your device settings. If you deny or disable it, some location-based features may not work properly. Do not share another person’s location without permission or a lawful reason.
5. Storage and security
We use reasonable safeguards intended to protect information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Information may be processed or stored by service providers in locations outside South Africa, depending on the services used; where applicable, we will take steps required by law.
6. How long we keep information
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain trip and financial records, resolve disputes, protect the service and meet legal obligations. Retention periods can differ depending on the type of information and the reason it is held. Information that is no longer needed should be securely deleted or de-identified where appropriate.
7. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to or correction of your personal information, ask about how it is used, object to certain processing, or request deletion where we are not required or permitted to retain it. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some information must be retained for legal, security or financial-record purposes.
To make a privacy request, contact us using the details below. You can also change app permissions through your device settings.
8. Children
SwiftDrive is not intended for children to create accounts independently. A parent or guardian should contact us if they believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately.
9. Third-party services and links
The app may rely on third-party services or link to third-party websites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. Please review those policies before using their services.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or applicable law changes. The latest version will be published on this page, with the revision date shown near the top.
